I offer Certificate of Merit and Guild examinations to qualified students, and am an active member of both the M.T.A.C. and the National Guild of Piano teachers. Here are guidelines outlining which students may be a good fit for evaluations:

Requirements for Certificate of Merit Evaluations (mid March):

-Practice the length of your private lesson 5-6 days/week

-Year round students only, enrolled for 11-12 months per year in weekly lessons.

-2 of the recordings completed by the end of October, which is the registration deadline.

-Enroll in a Theory/Sight-reading group class from November-February. This will be split into two levels, will meet for 1 hour per week and will cost roughly $80/Month. Many of these meetings will be online.

-Parents will need to check in with their children regularly to monitor how each aspect of the program is proceeding.

-For level six and above, the student must have an acoustic piano.

-At least 1-2 in person lessons/month

Requirements for Guild Examinations (late May):

-Have an established practice schedule for at least 5 days/week

-Parents will need to check in with their children regularly to monitor how each aspect of the program is proceeding.

-A few in person meetings minimum in the three months leading up to the exam.
